Got to Olin at 6:45 and had a trout on the ice by 7:00 Got one more through ice and one Large Mouth. No bites after 9:00  left at 10:30.  Great Morning, just me and my thoughts and the great outdoors.
Now it's time to make Maple Syrup.

Was great to meet you wlatrout on your way out. I fished with my homeschoolers until 1200 without bite, but we all had a great time on the ice. I'm heading back this morning early in hopes of getting some on the ice.

Years ago I caught a male Bow that was a bright copper color and another guy caught a female the same color. The color faded to his natural male coloration with a bright red stripe.
Has any one seen this coloration?

I was on there a couple decades ago with a buddy and he landed this fat bow on his fly rod,  still the most beautiful fish I've seen caught to date.

not copper colored but neon blue backed.  have pics but they don't do the color justice.  I have caught thousands of trout over the years but never seen ones like that.

how much ice was you drilling there?

I was on 7-8" last night just south angola.

anyone want to give them a try up there after dark with the lights?

Tough day to get fish on the ice for us. I can't believe how many popped off as we were lifting them up through the hole today. Couldn't get them to go on minnows or jigging. All except one on dead stick, spikes and small jig head. The wind was so nice and strong.

Sorry I didn't get back to you about ice thickness. It was 7" yesterday. Spent most of the day getting ready to boil sap. Retired my icefishing gear till next year.

Taxi. The first outing I got a 19" Brown. He weighed in at 2 1/2 lbs. The rest have been bows.
Seemed the bite was early morning this year

In spring 2 years ago I caught a female all colored up like a steelhead for spawn and when I got her in the boat eggs were spewing everywhere. I wonder if that's what you saw wlatrout with the copper color.
Taxi, yesterday a buddy had a big fish on and got it's head out the hole before it broke off. We could see that it was a brown. thanks

That's what I figured that they were in spawning mode. As I recall it was getting close to spring.  The female the other guy caught was also copper.
I didn't get pictures till I got home ,but they still show some of the copper color.
I'll try to take a picture of the picture and see if I can post it. Which brings up the fact that I'm not sure how to do that. Any pointers would help.

Got them posted but don't know how to turn them. Top picture is Brown caught this year. Other two the copper trout. You can see some trace of copper but when caught it was bright copper.
Still have the mounted fish but it was never finished. Mean to do that some day. I also have carved fish in the past and I had started to carve the brown's likeness. It is not done either . To many hobby's and pastimes to get everything done on my bucket list.

Walatrout,

I rotated your pictures for you. You have to rotate them in your browser under where it says "Tools" before you post them.

Nice fish! I still miss the days when we had smelt in the Oliver Lake Chain and some of the browns were well over 20 inches.

Very nice. Anatomy is exceptional. Halos on the brook trout are little harsh but you definitely have talent. More than me!

Curtis creek use to have some "brood" fish that had a blue dorsum color.  They were very cool looking so if you had caught one in the past it probably came from those fish.
