Lakers at night?

Do Lakers bite at night? What's the best time to fish for them?

The first couple hours of day light seems to be the best time. But we have caught them right up till noon before they shut off. And usually the last 2-3 hours of the day they will turn back on. Find the smelt and let them answer you questions. If there are smelt, there are lake trout near by.

We have caught trout all night long while burbot fishing usually if you get a laker at night it is bigger than average

Try jigging with a glow in the dark spoon - bring it up frequently to keep it charged up (propane lantern works great for this).

Buddy of mine caught a nice 12lb Laker at 10:at night during a snow storm
while we were jigging for Smelt in the shanty. He caught it on a tip up right on the bottom, fishing in about 12 ft of water.

So of bigger lakers I have caught have been in the middle of the day. But I am sure every lake is different
