2 Records in one day!
« on: Feb 19, 2010, 01:50 PM »
The state record Hybrid was taken the same day as the Walleye but it did not receive as much press. The young lady holding the fish is the new record holder. They brought it in before they took it to fish and game to be placed in the record books. Congratulations and it was a great catch. The fish came from the lower Champlain Islands. If I recall the weight of the fish was close to 10 pounds.

If the fish your holding is 12lbs you must be 7ft& 500lbs!

First of all congrats to the young lady on her new record fish! :)Both pike hybids are very cool looking fish and to me the Tiger Muskie might be the coolest looking of all fish in these parts, with a big native brookie right on its tail! I would also be interested in how many pike/pic hybrids were released and where.

I believe they were stocked in the hartland dam (ACE) flood control and with nothing to keep them in the flood control waters they slipped into the CT river  , We caught many under the RT 5 bridge in north hartland ,then they were gone. magoons being the largest I ever heard of a lot of 10 to 14 #ers were caught.BB

I remember it seemed like everyone caught was a new record until they were gone with Magoons being the last one seeing none have been caught since and hybrids cant reproduce.

I know for a fact that they were in the tail waters of the dam , I don't believe they came up over twin falls from the CT river so I would bet they went over the falls to the CT river.I am sure VT fish and wildlife has records as to when they were stocked. But I think it was early 80's.BB

Not according to NH fish and wildlife, they told me it was a VT thing that they had nothing to do with.but your right it was 25 + years ago they were caught from Wilder Dam to Bellowfalls.

Ibelieve they have all been caught. Hybrids can't reproduce so unless ones eluded being caught for 20 years that game is over
