Bluegill Carving is complete
« on: Nov 28, 2006, 06:36 PM »

The Bluegill Caving is ready for a new home, about 43 hours of work into it.
For the painting of it, Bluegills like most fish, varies in color depending on its habitat, the season of the year, and it's size among other things, with that in mind, I usually choose a typical color phase that is appropriate for all the areas rather than a local variation.
So it is your carving to win boys,,,, how do you like it?
Good luck in the up coming IceShanty derby.
Eric

Great work. It's really nice of you to put the time in and offer it up as a prize.

Now that you're finished you can get to work on a 40" pike replica for next year's contest ;)

Got a couple of mentions of a few tweaks, people would like to see.
So I darken the blue patch on the gill plate,,,,, and just blacken a little the spiny dorsal fin, soft dorsal fin, tail, and on the back.

Theres quite a few guys on here that "donate" that much time to this site every 2-3 days making posts  ::)

Thats defiantly an awesome looking carving though. I'd much rather win that then a bunch of jigs in the upcoming tourney.

.....dont pay any attention to that part of his post Eric....awesome job on the carving and donation for the online tourney.....43 hours into your carving shows the investment in the finished gift.... and someone here will have a cherished spot to display it when the tourney is over....Grump
