anyone finding their crappie schools have moved???
« on: Feb 15, 2008, 08:19 AM »
The last 4 trips out have produced only 3 specks for me.  I'm in the same 80 yard radius that I have been fishing all winter and average nights have produced about a dozen.  Our water got a bit stained from the last warm up and since then- the bite has been very slow.  I'm thinking they be on the move toward their spawing staging areas which are within 100 yards of my shanty location.  Aside from the obvious- move until I find them, anyone else noticing their crappie spots have not been producing as well lately????

The school that I have been fishing has moved almost 3/4 of a mile in the last month.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

They aren't moving up here (Southern Maine) yet...fishing same area as last month, still smoking em...they don't really start to move up here until the second or third week of March...

Same thing happened to me when we had a little melt and the water got stained.  Once the water cleared up, the crappie came back.

From my usually open water lake I noticed the crappie had moved from the hole in the winter. I am hoping they moved back now it is closer to the end of the ice season.

Starting to think the crappie MOVED to another lake  for me.......
NEVER lied about the size of the fish I caught.....just remember them being BIGGER!!

Well I can update this post- the water has cleared back up and the crappies are back with a vengence.
Last Monday night caught 15, tues 6, Thur 4, Sat 18.  Saturday night we got 16 in a matter of 15 minutes.
The x67 was loaded with a nice school and we were flipping out the door as fast as we could get the baits down.  The best/worst thing- my buddy was in his shanty about 8 feet away- and they didn't touch a fish the whole time we were smoking em through the holes.  I was giving him the trash talk for awhile.....
