You are right hooking them in the tail keeps them alive longer and gives a little more action to entice those fish.This has been working for me and many others swear by it.Good luck fishing.

: I hope the fishin' really isn't so bad that you all have nothing to report. I hit my haunts again this week with some success coming on shiners hooked in the tail, as opposed to shiners hooked in the mouth. Anyone have any comments on that?
