I hit most of my bass on tip-ups. Jigging poles only ever produced 2 bass for me. Both were over 17" and both were on 4 lb test. Was fishing for crappies with small minnows.
If you want to jig for bass, you will need a larger pole, thus needing a larger reel. No need for utra-light gear when going after lunkers, right?
