Found my black plastic weedless frog that one stole from me the day before while bass fishing.  Second time around I was using a leader.  Good for me, bad for him.

Caught a pike with a mouse inside of his gut one time. Caught the pike on a top water lure. Went to the store next day and bought a top water mouse lure and went back, caught some more decent pike and bass.

In Connecticut, a friend of my dad caught a pike that had a duckling in it's gut. One time we were bass fishing a small pond and watched a huge bass come up and drill another duckling. Surprises the hell out of ya when you see that!

I have watched people gut trout and found butts in the gut. Also, all kinds of rubber lures (worms and slugo's) in the stomache. I gutted one that was ful of little red berry things, I suppose they could have been partially digested salmon eggs, but it didn't look like it.

Hey fishguts, There shouldnt be a surprise that you found frogs in its guts in Feb :o Northern will root around in the mud in the winter to kick up hibernating frogs. A raw nose is a good indicator of that. They loooove frogs.[Wonder if anybody has tried frogs on tip ups :'( or jigging with imitations. Cool topic!!!quote author=fishguts. link=board=1;threadid=9010;start=0#msg76820 date=1075253734]

I was fishing pike one day and got one on right away, but lost him just as fast.  I did not have the line tied to the swivel good.  I put on another dare devil and got a pike on and landed that one.  Sure enough, my lure I just lost was in his mouth!!!   Capt,n ;D

I caught a 12 lb pike when I was younger that had two muscrats inside of it. I was using a large spoon and that gator was still hungry.

i lost a jig with a soft bait and some cutbait on it on the bottom, two days later i was using setlines for burbot and i catch a nice 7-8 pounder in the same place.  when i was cleaning the burbot there was something hard in its belly, so i opened it up and there is the jig i lost, plus a mouse.  How it got the mouse in december with at least 2 feet of ice on the river is beyond me.

I cleaned a pike for a group of school kids and it had a frog and two small rocks in the stomach.  Must have been digging around and bumped into what it thought was more frogs!

This is why I love this site, I learn something everytime I go  on. I have found frogs in Pike in the middle of Feb here in NE Wi. and wondered where they found them and now know. Thanks for the info. :o
Good thing about prisons- they reduce the potential number of fisherman on the ice!

There is a seriouse study up here in Maine about all the soft plastics that get lost in the water....seems the brown trout in particular eat them right up then get intestinal blockeges that stunt and or kill them. They attribute the high number in browns becasue they inhabit the same deep struckture that bass do.

I have got 2-3 rainbows  with rubber worms in them. I also do not believe thay can pass these baits. As it looked, the worms I found looked to be in side of the fish for a long time.  ??? ???

I have not seen anything unusual in the pike i've caught ice fishing, but i caught one that had 19 minnows in it. The 20th one was his downfall. Another time i got one that had eaten so many leeches that they were crawling back out of it's stomach.
Hey Cold  Feet, could you tell me what brand of beer you drink. I kinda would like to try some...... ;)..........olds

Guy caught a 22lb pike up here in Maine, took it to the taxidermist, the taxidermist found a 7lb brown trout when he cleaned it.

There was an item in an old Outdoor Life (pretty sure) and there was a picture of it....a pike had a muscrat stuck in it's throat and still hit the lure and got caught, even though it would of been impossible for the fish to swallow it.  That's dedication.
The problem with quotes on the internet is that they're difficult to prove.
