went up for the first time last year.  Freezing rain from the moment we got there until 10:30 pm.  Got the truck stuck....didn't catch too many but my brother and myself had a great time drinking and reminiscing.  Looking forward to going this year with all three brothers and dad this year

I've fished the pond about 30 times it the past 12 years. Most of the time its slow. Small bluegill is the norm. That place is tough to fish, at almost 10,000 acers and an average deepth less than 4.5 feet and endless cover from weed to stumps and logs. It can take hundreds of holes to get on fish and some times you never find them even for days. Thick ice will also work you over, some years 30" in plus. On the other hand I have had some epic days out there also. Late March into mid april is ussually the best.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

If you're looking for big pike, the Floodwater gives a fisherman a pretty good prospect for a wallhanger, but if you prefer walleye or jumbo perch, I think Long Lake (north of Alpena) or Grand Lake are better. Couragious fisherman are already fishing Black Bass Bay of Grand Lake, but that ice is still not thick enough for me to venture out on. Both Long Lake and Grand lake still have some open water.
I am blessed to live in an area where the fishing is great and the people are nice!

Fletchers was really good this summer but you need to know where to go =) those fish are out there, we came close to limiting out and there were 5 of us.  Ice fishing it last year was really slow though and we didnt even catch a fish.. it wasn't to great of weather though

I drove up to Fletchers this morning (about 3 1/2 hour drive).

There was about 10" of snow in the parking lot at the fishing site.  I was the only one on the lake and left by 1 PM.

The heavy snow and slush has taken a toll on the ice.  I was able fish out about 200 yards with about 4-5" of
ice in two "iffy" layers.  Beyond that, the spud would go through the layers in one whack.

Couldn't get out to where I have had pretty good luck in the past.  I didn't get a bite in 4 hours in close.

The county plowed the parking lot around noon.

Hopefully, a few cold nights will firm it up again.

been out twice, a good 6 inches in most places, most people doing good heard of a few pike over 30 taken last few days , ive had 4 wheeler from one end to the other, snow is frozen,so you stay on top. warm weather this week end will bring slush back, tickets for contest are out,i bought first one sold, last year was slow, hoping this year will be better,i think there sell up to 200 tickets@ 20.00 each, 100% pay back, its on the 14th of feb,

I was out today and it was a sloppy mess.
Hopefully it will tighten up in a day or so.
