Got a 45-50 gal. Boil going right now, sure is beautiful out.  My AUF experiment hasn't worked out as good as I had hoped, 55 gal. drum could be a little tighter. ;D. Running today even though it only got to 34 last night.  Looks half decent next week and that could be the end of it if you believe the long range.   :-\

Deciding wether or not to pull my taps. just finished a boil and it looks like I've ended up with 4.5 gal of syrup for the year.  might run a day or two this week then it may put me over 5 gal for the year. How did everyone else do this year?

I bottled just over a gallon this morning, my first of the season.  Today ran 1/2 gal. per tap even though cold, I think this week will actually be pretty decent, I would ride it out at this point and maybe pull next weekend instead.

Been a busy week boiling, have a little over 5 gallons bottled and about 60 gallons of sap in storage that is starting to get cloudy.  Spent the day down in Mass with the family so it will be a late one tonight catching up.  Ice is out on some of the ponds down that way, I was kicking myself for not bringing a spinning rod with me.

Cool picture Jeff, looks like you have the bottling part figured out as well. @)  My batch finished out a gallon and a pint but is running darker in central Maine than you southern boyz.

Think I may go large scale for next season, build a sugar shack this summer and try to run over 50 taps next season, have to figure something out for a bigger evaporator too.

You would be very happy with a Mason 2X3 and blower Jeff, he is fairly handy to you in Cornish, great prices and craftsmanship.  If I had a place to build a shack I would have already had one by now.  Fishmoresurfless is doing 163 taps on one but has a beautiful sugarhouse and an unending supply of beer so has lots of helpers. ;D

$900 bucks for that is quite fair, 7-9 GPH is pretty good I'm doing 4-5 an hour on my ghetto fab set up. A guy at work is trying to get me to buy his 2x6 evaporator but I think that is to big.

You would definitely need more that 50 taps to run it right.

BrownTroutBoy - that barrel is crankin'!  Syrup looks great, too.  I boiled all weekend and hope to finish it up on the stove tonight - should end up being the biggest batch I've ever done.  Fancy new upgrade in the operation this year lets me keep going right through the rain.  So far so good but we'll see how it holds up.   (I bought it, when I saw it, at Marden's)

And that's a wrap!  All my buckets have been pulled and I finished off the last 10 gallons of sap last night.  A few weeks ago I was convinced this season would be a bust, but it turned out to be my best ever.  Ended up with a bit more than 3 gallons of syrup, questioning my sanity and the buy vs. make choice every step of the way... :)

It didn't go to bad for me, I ended up with just over 5 gallons which is about average for me.  I did put in extra taps to get it. Sugar content seemed high. I've never seen it shut of so quick. Our last boil was in 70 degree weather, not cool.   @)
