I use trebles from #4 to #8 depending on what I'm using for bait when pike fishing. I rarely go much larger than a 4 when using live minnows. I bulk up considerably with deadbaits/frozen baits, as there's no natural action to inhibit. Eagle Claw Trebles are my #1, and I've been using Mustad's Triple Grip this season with good results, too. Like that extra clearance between the shank and point. I also picked up some red Gamakatsu trebles last fall that are wicked also.  For walleyes, I use Gamakatsu Octopus pretty well all the time. Sizes 8-4. For panfish, I like a bit of a longer shank. Eagle Claw and TruTurn make some great panfish livebait hooks.

I'll second the trebles! I prefer #10 on big shiners or sometimes #12 for smaller baits.

#10 trebles for eyes
#14 fussy eyes,perch,splake,trout,salmon etc.
Jig tip-ups occasionally, check bait often and always use hearty minnows.
6lb-10lb. flurocarbon leaders depending on water clarity and or mood of fish or daytime vs. nightime. Experiment that's how you figure it out man!

I have been using the glo and colored hooks for trout and doing very well.  I think the most important thing to do, like JT said, is to shake your bait up, and check it often.  Many many times while walking away from a newly shaken bait....FLAG....
