Yeah the wind even with these temps will keep it from freezing.  But when you have a calm day on the water it will freeze over night.  Somebody nearby tonight probably shot my deer.  Real close.  Probably missed my deer.

It was 6 degrees at my house this morning.  I drove by upper Twin and it was still open water except at the boat ramp between the lakes and a few of the bays.  Then I stopped by Round lake and it had a few spots iced over but was mostly open.  Its going to be a while yet...

I used to fish it alot when I lived up there. Bass perch crappies and sunny's. Did manage to bring home some perch from time to time, although most were small.

Yup, that and Round Lake at the State Park.

Zero here the last two mornings.

Skaters in/on the shallow bays of Lake Pend O'Reille.

Sure seems early.

The lake waters were pretty warm this fall. Still in the high 40s and low 50s before all this cold.  So there is some catch up going on out there.

I appreciate the welcome sir. I have very short work days this winter. That way I can go to as many areas as possible and report conditions.

I don't know what the fishing is like but I drove by the chain lakes today and Black Lake was mostly iced over. Someone had been throwing big rocks in it to check thickness but no one was on it.

Wolf lodge area is starting to show good ice in the shade. We really need the wind to lay down for a while, and maybe a few weeks at 0°f would be great.

from everything I have been seeing in my travels looking for ducks and deer bull run lake is pretty much froze over except a small chunk in the middle rose lake still had quite abit of open water on thursday. The slough out by cataldo was frozen from what I could tell I guess it may be time to pull the ice fishing gear out and start getting it ready. If only I could find a deer

I was feeling the same way elkhuntinfool and then up pops this little buck with my name written all over it.  He practically came running right up to me and said shoot me.  Anyhow you have the best time of the deer season ahead of you (Thankgiving time is awesome!) and as long as you have a tag in your pocket you can still shoot the biggest deer in the woods.

  :%$#!:
Dock or boat fishing only at Round Lake State Park.    Swimming is permitted, ha.

100 %    Open water !         Docks were dusted with a little snow.      Main gate is the only entrance for access. (Unattended)
