Wanted to go check out conditions at Beavertail Pond to see how the ice was holding up. Glad I brought along the spin reel as I was not chancing the ice on the far side but decided to spincast out towards the ice and see what I could do. Not technically ice fishing but there was ice on the pond so close enough for me! Sure was glad to get into a big fish for the first time this year! A good fight, a few pics and he went back in for someone else to catch another day.

30 inch 4-6 pound ling from Newland reservoir. caught on a 1/4 ounce northland whistler spoon with a sucker head 4-6 feet off the bottom. New personal best ling, beat my old record by 9 inches
