Fried fish seems to rule!
« on: Dec 04, 2003, 07:11 PM »
Judging from the # of views for this thread, fried fish still rules as the #1 way to gobble up a mess of fish. I can't argue.

RG ;) ;) ;)

Two great ways to prepare small pan fish - I use olive oil for frying, using about an eighth of an inch in a frying pan.  Using fillets, I dip each in egg and roll in Italian bread crumbs.  Placing them in the hot oil, next salt and pepper the fillets to taste and then using a spoon, sprinkle about two tablespoons of a grated Romano cheese called Pecorino on the breaded fillets. Turn the fish in the oil once and remove placing on paper towel - when cool - enjoy.

2nd - using a 9x13 glass baking dish - Pam the bottom - next lay out a large package of fillets (bluegils my favorite) - sprinkle with Italian bread crumbs over the fish.  Spoon on a couple tablespoons of the grated Romano cheese called Pecorino. Add approx. 2 tablespoons of melted butter across the dish.  Cover with aluminum foil and bake for approx 20 minutes at 350 to 400 degrees.  Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another ten minutes - again enjoy.

Take 1 cup of pancake mix and 1 cup of beer. mix well. you want a little thicker consistancy then it would be for pancakes. in a deepfryer have your oil at 375. take your fish ( i cut the fish into small 2" x 2" peices) and dip them into your batter and put them in the hot oil. deep fry until golden brown. drain fish on paper towel and pig out.!!!! I have done this out on the ice. WhaT A GREAT MEAL!!!!!!

Try the grill. Get a grill basket. get the grill good and hot. Put your fillets in the basket (the kind made to hold the fish between two grids). Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle on herbs and seasonings.

Baking is also good. Use an olive oil bath. Dredge in Italian seasoned bread crumbs. bake until flaky.

Why wouldn't rule its the best! Broiled works for me too. Try broiled Walleye. Take the Walleye fillets place on a cookie sheet dab with real butter a little salt, pepper, Slices of onion and Sweet pepper, Slices of Tomato if you like  Broil till done. Do not flip.
