Battery maintenance
« on: Jul 29, 2017, 03:38 PM »
Now that it's been a few months since most of us have used our flasher/sonar batteries, don't forget to top off the charge if you don't have it plugged into a battery tender already.

Good call Seamonkey

Those small folding solar chargers are really neat. Unless your boat is undercover, your battery is always charged. Be sure it has a built in controller.

I received mine as a gift, don't remember the brand name. I went on line and bought controller for only a few dollars.

I see that Amazon has some for about $40. You would have to ask question about built in controller or not. Either way it's a great investment.

All Winter long my smelt shack had a charged battery.

Don't buy a cheap one !!

I run one on my boat that is tied to the dock all summer in the sun . It keeps the batteries charged great and I don't have to worry about the pump draining the battery  . That part I love ,but the first one I had was a cheaper solar panel and it crapped out do to sun exposure !!! That's right sun exposure killed my cheap solar panel . I have had great luck with the second one. About a mid grade with a controller .
