everything gone to storage
« on: May 06, 2017, 07:17 AM »
I've been pissed for two winters now, got a different sled two years ago just for fishing, have put 4 miles on it hauling firewood, got a new shanty and modded it out last winter, have no miles on it, Saginaw Bay has been bad to us locals as far as making enough ice to travel on. I put everything away yesterday, and can only wonder what kind of a winter we will have this year. There has to be something I or we can do to please the gods to make enough ice to get out and fish. I'm keeping my fingers crossed again that it happens. maybe I won't cross fingers, that might be one of the things that's gone wrong.

maybe bribe al gore?

very short ice season for sure. got on my favorite local lakes one time each and it was toast the rest of the season. had to go south to get ice that snow didn't destroy. 100+ miles each trip got a little old too.

I bought a new to me sled this year specifically for Saginaw Bay ice fishing and never got to use it either. I fished Wixom Lake several times and shore ice on the bay for perch once. Saginaw Bay walleye fishing is my favorite winter fishing so it's been a rough couple of years, especially this one after the  cold weather that we had in early December it was twice as disappointing to see it all melt before locking up.

at least you got out. I haven't. This summer I'm trying not to think about  ice fishing, so maybe oh look a duck.
