The only boats in use around here were competing in the Smalls to the Walls race on the Sandy River. The pond I was fishing still has two feet of ice. I wish I could still ice fish there after today. Now I have to drive 40 miles to an "A" pond. The latest I have ice fished is April 22. I don't remember what year it was. This year might set a new record.
I hadn't seen George's column until now. I don't usually read the BDN because it isn't my local paper. I just looked it up on line. George Smith spent a lot of time lobbying against property owners' rights when people like Roxanne Quimby wanted to post her land against hunting. Now he's all for private property rights. Nobody knows his true colors.
