Mohawk River
« on: Apr 08, 2017, 02:11 PM »
I've fished it in the summer, but I'm looking for spots somewhat close to where the Mohawk empties into the Hudson for pike fishing through the ice. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply Mr. Esox. I know where there are some coves that seem tempting, just not sure about access or safe water. Time will tell!

Sorry, but I am a wimp. I won't fish that river on ice. I live right near it and have seen too many people go through. Moving water under the ice makes it really unsafe, in my estimation. Several years an idiot bought a new truck in Latham. He lived in Schenectady. He thought it would be fun to drive home on the ice. YUP! Went through. Destroyed a brand new truck.

Fishing below lock 2 can be successful, but you can't keep the fish.  If you're just out for fun, give it a try.

If you drive or ride in a car you risk your life significantly more daily than being on ice...
