Any info on the ice on Chocura?
« on: Apr 04, 2017, 12:25 PM »
I "might" be heading north this weekend, and if the chance is there, I might consider hitting the ice one more time (if possible).

Otherwise, it'll be an open water weekend.

Not sure if this will help you but we went up to the pond we fished this winter, 1500 ft, pulled the bobhouse off and we drilled a hole and there was over 32 inches of solid ice....We didn't believe it, so we drilled another hole, same deal. Full on mid winter conditions remain in some places. Thigh deep snow on the boat launch, no slush on the ice, the edges are rock solid and snow covered.... coves with inlets are to be wary of but I could not believe the thickness of the ice... what a March!

So we's goin fishin again.... soon maybe, one of those 60 degree days comin up. Been waiting for a fishing tan all season, never happened... there is still a chance to fish in a t shirt... yeeehaw

PS the ION with extension was buried the hole, just broke thru last on its last inch.
