Just a couple with my young angler

Hadnt been out with the little guy in a couple weeks, so I wanted to put him on some action with some good caliber fish. Off to a lake in the Gilmanton area yesterday, still 16" of good ice. Slow at first light, then really picked up around 9. Went through 5 dozen shiners.
28 Bass in all, mix of smallies and largies. Biggest largie went 5.2, biggest smallie 4.1.
These are my favorite days now, other guys can relate....if he's having fun, i'm having fun.

Very nice guys some nice looking bass. Perfect day yesterday where I was at. 16" of ice I know it is hard to believe but me and Bambn308 were cutting 24" yesterday. We did not catch fish like these though.

If you have not done it in the past sign him up for the Ice Shanty Online Derby next year.  The kids have a blast and usually win something.  This year all the categories did not have winners.  Believe it or not but my son whas the only youth to enter a pickerel so there were no 2nd or 3rd winners.  They probably gave prizes away to other youths that did not win anything .  Check it out.

No Youth Pike? Hawkeye would be on the board for that. He is so good that he can look at the reel spin and tell if it is a Pike or Pickerel.
