It ain't over yet!!
« on: Mar 25, 2017, 06:24 PM »
Seasons over the 1st for me on the body of water I fish most frequently. Still have plenty of ice,17" over the basin, and 20 + closer to shore. Decided to put more fillets in the freezer for some summer time fish fry's.
First hole found the whites, and the slabs weren't too far away.

That's a nice mess you have there and there's plenty more time with the conditions the way they are now.

Nice pile of fish.  I tried that color buckshot the other day and couldn't even get a look.  Glad to see it worked for you.

Orange green yellow. tip with a bit of bait. Slow bite days don't give it to much motion.

It worked that day.
I like anything with a rattle to draw them in, at times they just look,so I'll down size. Other times they nail it. That particular day I was pulling them out of 40 fow so wanted the extra weight for a quick drop.

I have found that a sliding sinker ontop of a splitshot works similar to a rattle on a lure.

It's funny you mention that. I was just thinking about modifying a carolina rig, because the brass on beads sure does make some noise.

I've had good luck with that orange green yellow before.  Tipped with a bit of earthworm.  I was probably working it too much.  The bite was terribly slow.  I knew the fish were around I just couldn't get on them and stay there, so I figured I would try the rattle to call them to me.
