Pike really is a beautiful fish

I went out yesterday to try and catch me a pike for saturdays fish-fry, and caught this pretty fish of just under 9lbs.

That's a dandy & it s/b good eating!! I was raised in Minnesota, & ate pike a lot, along with other warm water fish. They are good tasting. As with all fish occasionally you would get a strong tasting one, but that's the nature of eating fish. Generally the smaller ones were tastier, but not always--
It makes me wonder when people complain of the "Y" bones in the pike--we never cut them out--they are easy to remove when the fish is cooked, so I don't see the problem--I guess it's an inconvenience for some, but I never considered it as such--
Congrats & enjoy the fish!! ;) ;)

IŽm making pike 3 ways for saturday. Fried in beerbatter, as home-made fishsticks, and as "poor mans lobster" with melted garlic butter. This way anyone can find something they like. WeŽll have some fried perch and some smoked whitefish too.

Nice Pike. I like the idea of fish sticks, never done it that way.
