Pike and Burbot Action
« on: Mar 21, 2017, 09:30 AM »
Was out a few days ago and saw some pike and burbot.  The pike were pretty aggressive, one managed to pulled the rod down the hole on the last one.

That was fun to watch, thanks for postin it. That pike in the last one seemed to be protective of the rod that was on bottom, like it was his, lol!

The second fish in the third video looks like a pike/pickerel hybrid.

very interesting videos   I have never seen a Burbot before   Where are they?  Are they good to eat ?  just curious
I went smelting in southern Adirondacks today and had a ball   caught enough to make it a fun day and possibly wrap up a great season despite some sketchy ice

Good catch. Man In Black had a thread earlier with a fish similar to that but it was a Pike only Lake. Turns out that is pretty much what a Juvenile Pike looks like sometimes.

Interesting read on burbot in New York.  Personally I have only ever caught one and that was off of the warm water discharge at the Dunkirk power plant before it was shutdown.  It was not uncommon to catch them there.
