Springtime at Valentine Refuge
« on: Mar 17, 2017, 09:30 PM »
Kicking around the idea of taking the wife and kayaks up to Valentine this spring.  I would be fly fishing, switching between bluegill and pike.  Any recommendation on timing and lakes?  I've iced merrit a couple of times but I don't have any experience on the refuge lakes.  6hr drive for me.  PMs welcome of course.

Go now if you want.

But, in my opinion it is better to wait until later in the spring.  Up there a person can sure have a spring trip ruined by a cold front or even spring snowstorm, so I believe it is better to wait until later in the spring when the weather is more stable.  May and June even.

Here is where I would fish, http://outdoornebraska.gov/wp-content/uploads/formidable/VNWR-2016.pdf
