Eskimo HC40 Question..
« on: Mar 12, 2017, 09:01 PM »
If I store my HC40 Vertically I tend to get a quick puff off blue smoke first start .. after that nothing for the rest of the day.   When I store it laying down I see no smoke.  What gives?  is oil leaking down during vertical storage and then getting burned off?  Manual says to store vertically...

I'm no small engines guy but is that auger a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke?

I think the 4 stroke needs to be stored with the spark plug up on top .  So the oil stays in the base .

READ THE YELLOW STICKER . I don't have a 4 stroke but if I did I would store it like that all the time . It looks like you could take the auger off and hang it on a hook from the top handle ?

Gas Blaster is right on... Never lay any auger plug down,, When out on the ice I drill a particle hole and stand it straight up . When storing keep it vertical.

You are probably getting excess fuel in the cylinder or moisture. giving the smoke on first start. when storing shut off fuel supply.
