Now now...... there is no need to gloat  ;). Here in Montana in some of my favorite honey holes we are still experiencing 15" average ice. On my other favorite spots they are wide open and are ready to be trolled. The debate is do I stay on the ice or do I crank out the ol boat and start trolling or do I start to pick up elk sheds that are dropping or do I go hunt coyotes or do I go shoot ground squirrels? Turkey season is right around the corner and that will be the end of the ice I'm sure. So many choices and so little time! Stay safe out there and may your beer be cold!

Woke up this morning and it was 33 below with a nice light breeze, sitting at 25 below right now.  Burbot were biting all night and I reeled up about 2am and left my jig sitting in the hole.  Well needless to say about 2 hours later a burbot swam up into my hole and ate my jig I thought it was a muskrat at first until it flicked its tail and soaked me.  Nothing worse than a shower at 4 am wearing only boxers.  Drilled a bunch of holes yesterday and found a good 36" everywhere I drilled.  The snow pack has been insulating very nice or else I would have to put on the extension, and no overflow so travel has been real easy.
I was born an Alaskan I just didn't live here at the time.

I haven't been on the ice since February 18th. Small lakes around here started to skim up but with projected snow/ rain and high Temps in the near future. We've been done here in southern Michigan since mid February :( been out in the boat chasing gills and specks but I'd rather be water on water instead

Ice is iffy in most areas. We have 1-2 feet of snow coming. It's done.

I was on 18" today which consisted of a 50/50 mix of white/black ice. Shoreline starting to soften up with the warm weather tho !!

I was 15" yesterday and should be good for a while, I have another lake that has 18" of good ice but a 2 weeks
ago the shoreline was bad. But with the blast of cold temps we've had the shore tightened up!

I can't verify the exact thickness but should be around 14" - 15" now again. It's been below zero now 2 or 3 mornings in a row, with no snow on the ice. We should be good for a couple more weeks at least. Highs have been in the upper teens. I think it has been colder so far in March than it was all February.

Central WI has 12" on many lakes. Northern WI we were driving trucks out last weekend 18 - 24". Flowages are limited to ATV or walking, just steer clear of any current.

I was drilling through about 30" of ice last week. Since then there have been a few subzero nights with 10 degree days. There might be 31 or 32 inches now.

Hard and 25" thick in most places. I will probably be able to fish from the ice until the end of april, unless it gets unseasonally warm.

There was around 3 feet of ice I fished at on a lake in Wyoming yesterday. A little less than half was white ice. Great spring-like fishing conditions.

Going to hit the ice this weekend. This may be it though for the season for me, almost time to start getting the boat ready. The ice is dark and not good in shallow bays or any current areas, shaded shoreline and main lake ice should still be good. Time for spud bar, rope, and lots of common sense. Not a bad idea to drag behind a big floatation devise. It has been a much colder March than February, several mornings here in the past week have been down in the single digits. Still some snow on the ground in the shade where it was plowed up or drifted up.

Not good. 2" yesterday morning. But I had a plan!  ;)  It involved an 8' johnboat, 60' of rope and my spudbar. Worked better than I had hoped!  @)
