Sure the rescue person was yelling for him to do just that!

It really confirms the fact that he exercised bad judgment in more than one way!

i'm kind of surprised the rescue person was standing up on the same ice that wouldn't support some one else that might be lighter weight.
the chunk of ice on top looks like 3".

death grip on that rod and probably deep sixed the sonar.
