Tool for reeling tip-ups
« on: Mar 05, 2017, 09:26 AM »
I made a simple tool that you can put into a drill to reel tip-ups fast. It works nice, especially when you are set up in deep water or its really cold at the end of the day and you don't want to freeze your hands reeling it in. It also prevents twists in your line like hand wrapping the line will. It's simply a rubber bumper on a bolt with a washer and lock nut holding it tight at the end. Just make sure to get a bumper that will fit over the knob at the end of the reel shaft so the bumper will be in contact with the reel. Works great on my 40-up tip-ups.

Great idea! I'm going to put that to use... next season (since this one is pretty much done)

Haha, that actually almost happened. At the end of the day I was reeling up my tip-ups and had a laker bang against the bottom of the ice chasing the minnow on the way up.
