who likes white perch? ( time to thin them out)

this summer I am going to be thinning down a lake in the naples area of white perch. Who wants some? PM me your number and i will call you this summer. i can easily get 70 of them a night.

I have been filleting mine out. and the last three trips I have been able to get 4 to 5 qtrs. of boneless fillets each trip .I wash them off good to get  loose scales  off them. package them in zip lock bags  mostly 1 qt. bags .we use them in a fish casserole or make fish cakes with shredded  zucchini from my garden . there is never any left overs. I save all sizes and leave a few small one on the ice for wild life Eagles, Ravens, Crows, foxes.. I feel if the small one are not put back it will helpto add to a larger size in the coming years. (  Fresh water Haddock)

You guys are lucky  all my lakes have a 25 fish limit. Due to that we only keep 10" and bigger perch

They use to catch all kinds of White perch out of Sabbaths and sell to Asian restaurants  locals complained and that was why they put on a limit of 25 White perch  . now they are running smaller . Taking out lots of White perch was a big benefit for the health of the lake for other fish.

They are such a nuisance to me that I honestly want people to start putting a hurting on them now. I have to imagine this post is in reference to Long Lake. I legitimately get to the point that I stop fishing some days I catch so many white perch. Honestly finding a white perch on the downrigger Ive dragged for a half hour has had me screaming expletives so loud people at Ricks Café probably heard me out there.

Please come one come all put a hurting on them. I noticed in the early spring they stack up in front of Causeway/Naples Marina. Ive thought about dropping M80s on them LOL

I think they should have a tournament  on lakes with high pop. of white perch .Most fish caught, largest fish . put some good prizes on for a good fund raiser. this would help lower the pop of perch and give other sport fish a healthier body of water .

That should also include YP, although young YP seem to be a favorite food for many gamefish, having a population of stunted perch is not good for the overall balance and is no fun to fish.

You and me both! or its a cocker 14'' perch that fights like an oil tanker and you think you have a sweet salmon. You eat them?

Perch ussally follow in after the smelts on there spring run. Harrison end has a heavy run . most all large tributaries have a heavy perch run.

I could probably get 200 at night... I'm there for 6 days.. 1200 fish would help a little bit. Anyone who wants to help i welcome!

I agree it will help out. I've witnessed lakes that after heavy fishing / removing of white perch for just one season, bigger perch started showing up the following seasons.
It does work.
