Open Water Walleye
« on: Mar 01, 2017, 10:02 PM »
I'm traveling from NW Rhode Island on Friday and going to New Haven for the evening.  I want to spend the day slowly making my way down there and do some fishing.  We don't have Walleye here so I thought why not go to places that have them.    Batterson Park looks good and West Thompson is close by as well.  Can anyone recommend a spot? I'm also open to any recommendations for Pike or good Bass.

I appreciate it!

Batterson and west Thompson are the only lakes open now for walleye. West Thompson hasn't been producing many , but nice little lake. Haven't fished batterson except thru ice , but have caught eyes there. Good luck

I appreciate you taking the time to reply @Bugchazer.

Upon further reading I saw a site with about a dozen comments (complaints) that fishing Batterson from shore is tough because of the weeds.  Sounds like my kind of place to be honest.

Fished 3.5 hours. No Walleye, however can confirm BIG Bass here.

Thanks for helping with info @bugchazer, I appreciate it.
