Marcum LX7 Mounted On Vexilar Pro II PC-100
« on: Mar 01, 2017, 07:01 AM »
I am looking to mount my Marcum LX7 onto a Vexilar Pro II (not including the soft pack), and with some research I have found that it can be done.  However, the Marcum transducer does not fit in the transducer holder.  Size wise, how does the Marcum transducer compare to the Vexiar Tri Beam?  If they are of the same size, how is the Tri Beam transducer held by the pack when in transport/storage?  Do they make some sort of transducer holder adapter?  If it turns out the transducer holder cannot be adapted, maybe the beverage hold accessory would work in holding the transducer, but I would prefer to keep that as a rod holder.  Also think you might lose the ability to put it in a bucket with it setup like that.

End game is for my LX7 to fit in a standard 5gal bucket for hole hopping outside of the shanty.  Marcum is really doing themselves a disservice by not offering a such a product themselves.

why do you need a bucket to hole hop?
it sounds serious that you must have one. the lx6 might fit if it has to be in one being it is only a 6" screen and not the 8'. they did make the shuttle smaller last year and called the smaller shuttle version the lx6s (s) for small shuttle.

some thing to consider is use a top or seat top for a bucket and mount the lx7 to that and leave the battery in the bucket. then you can use the marcum arm to hold the ducer. you could get fancy and make your own top that is reversable so you can flip it so the head unit is inside the bucket or on the out side of it.

i take only my lx9 and a rod after i make tons of holes and sit on my knees if i find fish to hole hop.

my buckets are all rectangle because i use cat littler buckets to hold my heater and lantern and a bottle of gas. it's great having a lid on hinges like that to keep snow/rain out of it and mice and dirt.

It isn't a must have, but a "be sweet if it could fit in a bucket".  Haha.  The 5 gallon bucket is a universal ice fishing tool, and would be helpful if the flasher accommodated it.
I am looking to be more efficient going from hole to hole.  Would love a sonic ice hopper, but it isn't compatible with the 7.  The bucket serves as my seat and means of holding my catch.  There are times its a struggle to carry my gear from hole to hole in one trip.  Be nice to have the option of putting the flasher in the bucket on top of my catch to help handle the load.  I don't like to drag my sled from hole to hole, b/c of the noise created.  I use a Jet Sled Jr late season to be a minimalist.  Some spots are remote access, or I have to walk a LONG WAYS to get to prime spots.  Freeing up area in the sled by being able to put my flasher in a bucket, on top of other gear, or on top of my catch at the end of the day would be nice.  Most of the time I am fishing out of my portable and the LX7 soft pack is perfectly fine, its just the hole hopping situation I would like to improve upon.

i've seen mounts for sonar where you stay seated and the mount holds the head unit out and away from the bucket. seems like it was a person using a hb helix showed us his method using that mount.
maybe it was is member spitzmo.
i guess that is the sonic ice hopper tho.
maybe design your own.
so this is another way to use any sonar on a bucket.
