So will some of the ice survive this week?
« on: Feb 27, 2017, 06:00 PM »
So with the temps forecast this week, once it gets thru the warm up and rain on Wednesday, anyone think the ice will bounce back with the well below freezing temps expected Thursday thru Saturday?
WCAX is saying 0-12 Thursday & Friday nights with daytime highs both days barely to the 20's.
My fingers are crossed that a few spots will remain safe after Wednesday and lock up at the shorelines for one last hurrah this weekend, anyone else hoping this too?

I have my fingers crossed for a chance at some white perch to put in the freezer! More rain isn't going to help.

After being out on the ice today I think if the shorelines lock back up and we get a few inches of black ice under the almost glass looking ice we will be good. There was still 8" of ice in st albans bay and the ice was only bad to get on at the launch where the concrete was warm.

How's the ice on Bomoseen, Hortonia, Lake St. Catherine, and even Dunmore if anybody has been in the area or out fishing. I may be up the weekend of 3/11-3/12. Thanks!

I just drove by Dunmore along the west shore to the state access. It is breaking up along the shore and you will be wading through the access to get onto the lake as it is separating there as well. I'm not sure how the south end looks, it generally has more ice than the north end.

MarkNJBass, St. Catherine is starting to break up, someone went through on Saturday morning.  Thankfully, they were pulled out quickly.  I'm not going back out unless the next couple weeks bring some freezing temps but it isn't looking consistent.

Good luck Wes!! Hopefully you'll have a repeat of the 2015 season this year. I have a feeling that you'll hook into a triple digit tuna this year. Let us know if you strike gold.

The ice is still good where I have been fishing but the shore has gone bad. Only time will tell whether it will heal up. The lake has really come up and all that water has made the shores open. We need cold and no wind.

By the time I get out again it'll be too late if it's not already. It's time to do those boat-related chores I've been planning.
May the fish be with you.

That's a good boat, I had one like that years ago. Caught a lot of fish out of it.

Great looking rig, Bootstrap!  Looks like it would make a great salmon trolling setup.  I'd love to find something like that one of these days ... our 14'er gets awfully tiny when the wind picks up.

Saw a picture of people driving ATVs on magog today. This weekend it's suppose to get down to -15 with the wind chill again and freezing temps at night all next week!
