First time EVER....Didn't get out once...

In all my years of Ice Fishing (50) I have never had a year where I never hit the hard water! Between the way hot weather here on the Front Range, limited ice days and other BS, I did not get out once.....Sooooooo disappointing...get some cold weather finally now (after multi 70 degree days) but we need need a major cold snap to get the lakes refreezed....

The lakes below me, never even froze once....the ones at my elevation firmed up for about 2 weeks and then never stayed safe, above me, the snow was really a factor in even being able to get to them....

I will wait till the end of March to switch things over, but I am already getting the Revo tuned up for the soft water...

I haven't been out yet either.
Too many other things going on this winter.
Between rebuilding my buddies boat trailer and doing a repower on his boat along with getting ready to haul materials to the cabin I'll be lucky to get out at all.
The good thing is there are still 2 months to go here but a lot of that will be hauling 12,000#'s of building materials into camp with my snowmobile.

That stinks for you, sorry it didn't come together.  I'll be ice fishing for lakers well into April, I suspect...no reason to call the season over here in Colorado.  But open water on the front range is definitely calling to me.

I fish, (not much any more, not enough safe ice), in Western PA.

It's like the month of Feb disappeared for the last two years.

Taught me one thing, though.  I'm not spending another dollar on ice fishing gear.  Not enough return on investment.  I'm sad...  But my fly tying & fly fishing hobbies will benefit.  Gonna get that new set of chest waders I've been pining for in lieu of a flasher...

I did a 1st this week fished in my boat fishing for perch in February in Pennsylvania in the 60s..great bite wish it was hard water but made the best of a bad winter....my buddy Captian54 and I got limits of 30 each ...great day on the water.

I too saved money on ice gear,I spent it instead on supplies for open water crappie and gill season.I spent the day cruising my crappie lake ( caught a few dinks) mostly checking water temps for the upcoming spawn.

Seriously if I didn't have at least 3 good months of ice every year there is no way I would have spent as much money as I have on ice fishing stuff.

Didn't make it out either. No ice here at all this year. I spent more on gear then ever. Bought shanty and submersible light planned on some overnighters. Warmest winter I can remember.
