at least you had the forethought to spud ahead and keep us from going in the drink in the dark.

yeah the trip could of been deadly, all we missed was the bite, but were alive too complain about it.

yea and we had a blast buddy will do it a lot more next year and if we learned one thing this year it was
"GO BIG OR GO HOME" now lets look forward to open water slam fest
We sure did and we will do it a LOT more next ice season(weather permitting). Going BIG def paid BIG. Fished further west out of Lewis than I have before and had a GREAT time on Chaumont too. Now that I'm not doing as many walleye/salmon tourneys I might have to make the 3 hour drive to Oneida for the walleye opener. Good luck on the open water season everyone!!!

speaking of big Shuba, i filled some pails of perch with a number 5 rap, that was pretty cool, love those fights on a rap, they fight hard and dig sideways, if you reel them up with a spoon, theres no fight they just come straight up with there mouths open, perch were taking out drag with the raps, but you do loose alot at the ice hole. but its fun....

Great pictures.  Now if I could just somehow live a half hour from Oneida and a half hour from Lake George that would be sweet ;D

I had only ice fished Lewis once when I was about 5 years old. Going there this year was like hitting the "Easy Button".  ;D

I also fished Chaumont for the first time and that was a great trip too.

Some people hate years like this but I think it pushes you to try new stuff, get out of your comfort zone, and learn.
VERY WELL SAID we have to be like the fish
ADAPT AND GROW learning can be fun and definitely cant beat the rewards

Snagger that's very true , I myself was using size 7 raps all season and large spoons
with the shad explosion this year I went BIG and oh how it paid off BIG
never switched up presentation all season on Oneida as well as Chaumont twice
for me BIG was the hot way to go for both eyes and perch .... looking forward to trying same

Great pictures Snagger. I missed your posts. Glad to see you were fishing. Thank you for sharing the natural beauty of your pictures and your knowledge of ice fishing. You and others on the Oneida forum page have helped many over the years to become better ice fishermen. This unselfish sharing has made the limited time on the ice a lot more fun and productive!!
Thanks again.

good job shane.........it certainly was a short but sweet season for sure.......I fortunately have a private access to that area but did see the mess at the parking area......I will be surprised if that spot will be available next year.....no trash but guys parking anywhere and making that mess would tick me off if I owned it.....hopefully someone from the state will step in and try to iron that mess out

Thanks for sharing Shane, wish I could take better advantage of my 7D, your pictures are always great, the composition and color sat is top notch.  Made 4 trips to Oneida this year and like you said, if you didn't change your approach, you went home frustrated.  Best of luck to everyone this Spring.
