Was it a Big Ass Fan brand fan?  LOL  One things for sure, if we could get out on a lake we'd definitely need an extension or two to get through the snow and ice.   ;D  Maybe I'm crazy but I'm still working on a plan or two.   ;D

With all the cold temps. We have had here in SEPA. I am surprised. No where in the state has safe ice. Alot of local smaller bodies of water are locked up.

LOL! I looked at a couple of our local lakes. I will be testing ice thickness/quality after work today.  ;)

Should be a way to ice fish from the shore with a drone. They do everything else with them.

That'd take all the fun out of it.  Although if we had a big enough drone it could get us onto the lake.

I checked three places yesterday and there was no where to park at any of them so I couldn't check the ice.

Unfortunately I found out fri afternoon that we had a major water leak in the house. Spent all weekend dealing with that. Had to gut the bathroom and master bedroom and get a cleanup crew in to get rid of the mold and dry everything out. Not the way I wanted to spend the weekend!  :'(

They plowed the parking lot, there was quite a bit of snow on the ground, and the head of the bay was frozen,we couldn't get to our spot unless we had a ice breaker .lol  We did find them after about an hour. Kov thought my 30 would look nice on the snow pile.lol As cold as it was and with the ice covered bay 5 feet from the boat it was ALMOST ice fishing.lol Could you imagine setting up over that school of jumbos on the ice. It was fun but pulling up those toads through a hole would have been better. The bay was only fishable a couple of days with minimal ice.

Well, after the Arctic blast we had mid-week I checked our lakes on Thurs. Our primary lake had open water, so that one was out. But the smaller lake was covered, but shoreline was a bit eroded. I walked out on the dock and checked with spud. 2" I don't walk on anything less than 4, so if I was gonna fish there I had to come up with another plan.

After talking with Chris, I got an idea! I would use my 8' Jonboat and stand in the back and push my way out with my spud. So I took Fri. off and was at the lake bright and early. Well, it worked like a charm!  @)  I tied a rope to the dock and when I was done, I simply pulled myself back to the dock with the rope. THe boat with it's flat bottom made it very easy to slide along the ice.

Didn't catch anything big, but did have fun trying to hook the finicky, dinky little perch! And this lake is right next to a main road, so you can imagine all the looks I got from people!  :o  I think somebody actually called security on me, because they showed up a little while later and saw that I was in a boat and just said "Hi" and then left.  ::)

So now my little johnboat will become my first and last ice "sled"!  ;)

Ruttnutt, you absolutely hands down have the award for the last man on the ice this year.  As I said when we were talking if I could've been there I would've for sure.  Now that you figured out that our plan works, very well I might add, we will be in action early on and late into next season for sure.

LOL Chris! I wasn;t looking for an award................. .....................j ust another couple hrs on the ice before the soft water season hit!  ;)

Yes- next season we will be on the ice even earlier now! And will be able to stay a little later.  @)  Thanks for the brainstorming help- it was a team effort!  ;)

BTW, I drove by the lake on Sunday morning and the spot I had fished on Fri morning was OPEN WATER!  :o

I took a ride past one of my favorite lakes last night and it's still locked up except for a few inches along the shore so maybe I'll be doing the boat attack this weekend depending on the weather.   ;D

I figure it this way, if I take the boat, bring both sets of gear, and the spud I'll be able to fish no matter what the ice situation is.

I checked the lake I'm planning on going to over the weekend and as of last night it was half open and with all the rain coming It'll probably be totally open or darn close to it.  Oh well, I can always use the jiggin rod off the boat.  LOL
