Pretty sure the fat lady sang for me today....  got out on 7 inches and got with around 5.  Saw flashing from approaching storms in the distance so I think we got off just in time.

Next up is SHAD baby.....  silver bullets if you will.

I just checked  a lake I fished a few times this year and was really surprised that it's still all locked up except for about a half a foot around shore.  I certainly don't trust the ice on it but maybe the ice at the freezer will be ok on Saturday but I doubt it.  It's pretty sad that instead of hoping a place has good ice I'm hoping it has open water.   :%$#!:

sad to admit it, but I'm in full softwater mode. Got the gear ready and waiting for the ice to finish melting off. Just gotta make up my mind where to go first!

That looks BEAUTIFUL.  I'm hoping and praying it ends up being accurate and we can get back out on the ice.  All my gear is still in the back of my truck ready to go just need a moment's notice to grab my suit and Showdown and I'm ready to head out.

dream on boys. March is gonna be a roller coaster ride with temps and weather. We usually don't grow ice in March. In a regular March that follows a regular February, we are looking for ice to survive as long as possible. Most lakes, if not all lakes, are gonna be mostly open. They ain't gonna be locking back up with any serious ice.

eaglejac, I watched the news about that tornado, my best wishes to everyone that got hammered by that thing. Crazy stuff! I drove over to my sons house last evening to drop off his son, he lives up at Emerald Lakes. It's completely open, only a few icy edges but pretty much open.

I did a ride around on Sunday checking lakes, all ice is gone except Prompton , I could not believe my eyes the whole lake is still frozen, only problem is,, it rained so hard up in that area it raised the lake up about three feet, the water is half covering the road at the boat launch, I never seen that lake up so high, the ice is just floating on top of the water. I am done Ice fishing for this season. Time for the boat. BTY the Pac is good to go , only a small amount of ice at the state boat launch.

yeah, after all that warm rain we got I wouldn't trust the ice anywhere.  It'll drain down under the ice and start melting it from below. I'm glad the pac is open now, I wanna hit the edges on my kayak by Ledgdale and see what I can find.

doesn't matter how cold it is. the season is toasted. It started late and ended early. It happens, now we break out the softwater gear and have fun on the waves and dream about black ice!

Rutt , I am starting to worry about you, I know you had your heart set on trying those 8' planks but I don't think its going to happen this year. Here is your therapy prescription , 1. Put your Kayak on any lake, 2.  take your Ice Jigging gear ,3. Catch you some fish , this should hold you over until December , that's almost only six months away...lol
