Ice fishing weather help.
« on: Feb 17, 2017, 07:32 PM »
We have 8- 9 inches on the main part of the lake. It's supposed to be 41 tomorrow. Is it still going to be safe for the next few days?

Hm ?     8" to 9"   of what ?   Snow, slush, water, crystal ice or white ice?      ???    White ice is poor ice and very soft.

Just askin'.

If it is 8"-9"of good solid Ice it should be fine.
If your in doubt spud your way out check it as you go.
If it's not all good solid ice then you may have to be more cautious.
Also a lot depends on how long it stays above 32*f and if it drops to below freezing temps at night.

There's about 8 inches of solid ice and then about 6 inches of slush on top. It's gonna be about freezing for 2 days around 32 at night and 41 during day

This time of year spikes & a spud are a safe bet on any lake that may be questionable. Based on the thickness you mentioned you should be good to go.
