I'm wondering the same thing but would bet anyone hardcore enough to get on it may be tight lipped about posting conditions.  I'd love to get another day in, let's hope they're right about the forecasted temps. The depth of that spot is scary though (I'll only fish sketchy ice over shallow water).
Pike fishing is a like a cruel mistress that is too beautiful to leave.

You know better than anyone.  Cold temps are not relevant with the amount of wind at night.

Well that's certainly my opinion...Where is Eric on this?.he's been chasing ghosts there, the right way, for years in open water.

If you caught a pike or two then it was worth it, no?

Sucks or doesn't who cares at this point ....I think it'd be cool to walk on water one more time at daybreak for a few hours after this **** season....it'd be like a victory...I dunno, Seems like chasing barely 3-4" inches of ice pike fishing has been every single outing for me  this year....

Inside joke...I've been breaking Vin's stones for a couple years about fishing that place.

As for ice fishing there this weekend..better luck next year.

Good luck if so.  Tight lips or not I'd imagine there would be plenty of company based on how this season has been.

If Mansfield is fishable, some other pike waters (with a better reputation) will be too. I was planning on taking one more trip north, but maybe I won't have to travel as far as planned with this forecast. Let's hope for not too much snow and little/no wind on these cold nights.

Here I am. Sorry, I haven't been checking shanty for a couple weeks. I've been casting from shore at Keeney.

I believe Mansfield has decent pike, in both numbers and size; I've seen them there. I've even caught ONE of them. They just don't like me there there though; through the ice or in open water. Though I still try there from time to time, I have better luck catching pike in other places, one spot much closer to home. I'm not sure why I suck there, but I just do. I know the place gets a ton of pressure from the bass guys during the warmer months. I throw the same stuff there as I do other places and I don't even get followers.

For me, I prefer the CTR coves, Pachaug, Hopeville and Lilli.

This place seems to freez very well and winters like when we are counting every inch of ice, it seems to lock and freez rather easily. For example this year I found 3" on Quaddick and the same day there were reports of 5-6 on MH. Later on there was no safe ice at Quaddick yet 3" of ice on MH...obviously wind blockage depth and temps factor in but regardless of the tough or slow fishing there it is a very pleasant and beautiful place. Saw a bald eagle there the last time I was on the North side, so much bigger in person when they're resting on land and not 1/4 mile away and up in the air......come on iceeee

Impending snow is the would be killer of any chance of a late season freeze up.  Worse is it's going to get in the way of the boat!
