I met Bob only once and it was a time I will never forget. My buddy broke our nils auger one day on the 2nd hole last season. We put up a post about anyone in the area with a auger willing to lend a hand on here. Well never before talking with bob he answered that message and drove out of his way about 45 minutes to bring a couple of strangers his auger to drill some holes with. He wouldn't take anything in return other then a hand shake. What a great person. RIP
so many falling from cancer! my condolences to you and his family!
The jig holes in scallopers shack are called Dunham holes...when I built it Bob said he wouldn't set foot in it if he couldn't jig in it...should have seen it when he fell asleep jigging for cusk and a laker took off with his jig and pulled the rod right out of his hands.
Bob was the one who taught me the art of fly rod drifting in New York. When the fish weren't coming I would fish harder to try and compensate. Bob, instead; would go and sit on a rock for an hour and have a conversation with someone. When the fish came back through, he would get up throw a cast or two, make an adjustment, make another cast and be hooked up on a steelhead. Bob carried that sensible patience with him everywhere he went in life.-DylanWhat a nice tribute, well done sir
