As the title says the end of ice season is here we got 50*f+temps coming on real fast soft water is apon us.. so guess what iam done for the season.. this ice we got won't last long better off calling it quits then drowning from falling threw .. just a heads up for those risking it that it's probllay time to quit be fore we take s long walk off a short pier and end up in the soft water..

Warm weather is forecast for the next two weeks.  I think you are right, it's over in SE Michigan.  It's been a pretty disappointing year for ice fishing.

 ice fishing season barely even started here this year.ice I  was  on yesterday was sketchy 3".had to get off the lake by noon or I would've took a swim.ice was bouncing up and down and could see water pushing up in holes 40 yards away from me walking.ice completely melted twice this year and not from the lake effect snow Allegan gets every year.just rain and warm temps. its to late for me to wait for the 3rd refreeze so I'm switching to steelhead in the boat.

I have a little bit of hope left for going up north but for SE Michigan its no good. I found 6 inches of ice Saturday morning(not a lot). Most of it was 3 to 4 inches and thinning fast too. I punched a hole and the ice split an inch wide between my feet through the hole and went to shore. I was done for the day needless to say.

I'm hoping to get out on wendsday or Thursday on a private lake in Livingston county supposed to be cold hopefully it will firm up for on last hurrah . Then its north to Benzie.

Pretty much toast around here.  Last weekend I was on 3-5" of various ice and things tightened up only to open back up this weekend...   I don't think any cold weather will bring this ice back as its been compromised to many times... North of GR is still fine and has better quality ice that should hold up for awhile.   
Heading up to NW MI to see in-laws and most importantly going to try and do a morning walleye/night smelt/morning walleye into the day perch marathon!  Hope to give it heck as it could very well be my last trip......I am still holding on.

Good to hear your a little further north then iam ..  thinking south east and probally south west michigan has same conditions.. weather service is calling for 3 days stright above mid 50's for s.e. michigan..  don't want to see a repeat of that guy in highland michigan drowning with his young son..  your better off calling it quits now..  it not mandatory it is just playing it safe..

I appreciate your concern chilly willy, but you fish kent lake which has the Huron river running through it, it's an impoundment. Might wanna try lake chemung or you can stay at home like Devin Scillian and the DNR told you to. We could be talking about safety instead for those that venture out. Don't go if you feel unsafe, but please don't tell me what to do, I've been fishing the same lake for the last 10 years.

And with all that said, I'm fishing thru Friday, and possibly Saturday morning. I think Saturday you'll be able to get on the ice, but later in the day the shore ice will deteriorate and you might have trouble getting off. I'm carrying a spud with me for safety and to bust open old holes. It could still get cold again too, since it's only February 14th. So as they say use extreme caution if venturing out.
