Stony Creek Ponds, Harrietstown, NY
« on: Feb 09, 2017, 08:22 AM »
Anyone ever fish here before? The DEC guide says its open for hardwater fishing, and that there are eyes here. Also anyone know about access? From google maps looks like the road kitty corners to the pond, and you may be able to pull off there. Any info would be much appreciated  ;D ;D

YES.about 20 years ago for about 10 days[had to check my records] may 30 to june 8-1996
good trip, lots of fish all C/R, we did eat some, lots of deet for the flys had a canoe, info DATED
rt.30 out of tupper lake to rt.3 to coreys camped there, they have two deep holes that we founded
one nice island at the north end???,good thing i keep records[mixed it up with bog river trip]
the two deep holes was about 40ft deep each, the one deep hole was in the 1st pond by the road
and inlet[think it was the farest west] the other just as you went into the next pond
the outlet[into raquette river] is a swampy pond around the corner going south
i donot know if this plowed??
we caught lots of perch, some bass, one eye, 5 pike and a big minnow [think it was a cisco]
hope this helps
 ;D ;D ;D ;

Thanks for the info Rat! Doesn't sound too promising for eyes. If I can find parking, I wanna try it out still on Saturday.

Pike and perch, some Cisco, very few walleyes ( if any ) and a lot of bass.
Parking by 3rd pond ( by the road ), most fish cough in second pond.
When You cross from 1 to 2 cut across the point over land. The narrows between those two ponds are always questionable with ice .

bring a spud bar. this had 3 inches of ice when everything else in our area had almost 10. The water flows and keeps it thin.

3 inches!?!?! That's nuts. All I own is a gas auger. Would it be worth in in your opinion?

This was a cpl weeks ago so im sure there is more now but yesterday turned everything to a sloppy mess. Im sure after today itl all lock back up just know it can be thin in spots and with all this white slushy crap ice on top you will never know it.
