I'm a DIY fan and the only way I could ever see an improvement on this is if you rebuild anything you fished with in your past - I've re-wrapped a couple rods that I fished with when I was young. I got away from fishing - with my Dad - and the rods decayed.
I took the blanks and learned to wrap guides, etc. I can now fish with gear I used to fish with as a boy - My personal favorite has a hole drilled in the butt so it could be tied to the gunnel and not lost in case it got away from me. Little Brown is a special rod along with Big Brown and Special Green (Dad's rod) - I may re-name it to Green Hornet, it stings fish...or did.
