Those are my home waters, have friends that live on the point still and they say ice varies considerably so BE CAREFUL!! Anyone who fishes Oneida knows what strong wind can do to 4-6 inch of ice in a hurry! Good luck an post back how much ice you have.... lost of southern boys got the itch to get on some hard waters but lets make sure its truly safe!! As for me I'm heading a little farther north!

Be ready to walk, only public access is at least a solid mile to decent waters.  Ice varies considerably out there right now.      Don't park on lawns or posted areas please.

Check the weather . My buddy and I were on our way to LOTI and got as far as Sandy Creek . 81 was closed do to a Tractor Trailer jackknifed at exit . had to turn around. Snow and roads were bad . Not sure how RT. 3 was but your going to go through some snow for about 25-30 miles. Good luck and let us know !!

Well I made the trip up today as far as weather drive was fine once I got past central square
my thought was to try out of long point park for deeper water but there was a lot of open water
so I drove back to the beach in town was a long walk for sure was in 19ft water past the silo ( 3mile side)
ice there was between 8-9 inches by the beach shore was @4 inches clear black ice
as far as fishing lost something big, caught my biggest smallie ever fun fight and as far as perch
was nonstop all day left with bucket and a half only kept the big ones ranging from 10-13 inchers
a lot of them were like the Oneida slobs I'm used to catching  ;D was a great day
LOT OF CLEANING TO DO IM THE MORNING
not sure if I was catching mostly big perch due to the fact I was jigging large lures and bait while
looking and hoping for that monster walleye
stay safe and FISH HARD WATER

yes people are out on sleds even saw a few wheelers out where I was yesterday not sure where they
accessed tho on 4 Inches by the beach launch I would not try wheeler yet. sleds are much faster
getting out to thicker-safer ice (100plus yards or so) stay safe use your head and by all means

I just read on the hardware site that the sled went through at night because he missed the beach and went under the bridge where you should never go.

My fishing partner and I walked 4 miles all together yesterday out their! Defiantly a long walk but when you are catching the perch like we did makes it worth it, but sled traffic would be safe right now.  The sleds that went through yesterday was the result of some idiots that thought going up the river towards the bridge was a great idea, until they ran out of ice
