Tip up northern

I am sure this has been talked about before but what bait do guys run for Northren trying to ice some in the Iowa Great Lake area haven't been able to before hope I can get some help

I've always been partial to shiners. But for the past few years I've been using large suckers in conjunction with medium-large shiners.  Some lakes I fish have 30+" northerns and muskies. A couple years ago I had one large sucker and shiners. I caught 4 northerners on the one sucker and just one on the shiner.
