What have you done to make your rattle wheels rattle  ???

I put two of these bells inside prior to gluing together.

Cfilbert nice work big cost savings making your own rattle reels provided you already have the tools and knowledge to complete such a project. I noticed the tip of rod you placed into rod holder is slightly bent I would release some of the line tension on that rod over time the rod could develop a permanent bend if always stored under tension.

Really the only tools a guy really needs to make these is a 4" hole saw and 1/4" drill bit.  I nailed all the 1/4 plywood together and drilled through them all at the same time.

I just wanted to see if it would still work under tension.  None of my rods are actually hooked to the keeper.  I let the hook tighten up to the top eyelet.

Thanks for keeping me honest though.  LOL.

That should get your attention!! Good idea! And I agree with Steve about not storing rods with bends in them!!

Are you putting bunks in the house? If so, what type?

No bunks other than the back bench.  There will be cushions made for it.  One set for seat and one for back rest.  When two of us are spending the night a cot will come out and the backrest will fit the cot.

After a couple weeks I got back to work.  I removed the cabinet doors and bar top finished some fish on them to break up the solid white in front

I put a couple of drawers inside the middle cabinet.  I now know why I don't like installing drawers.  These two took me 4 hours to build and install.

The end cabinet has a couple of shelves.

The other cabinet is battery storage.  All soundproofed to keep the furnace quieter.

Also put fish on the wheel well cabinets.

Inside I purchased a parts drawer to hold the odd assortment of electrical connectors, screws, bobbers, hooks, etc.

The other cabinet.  You have to have Minnows right?

Inside some simple shelves, places for T.P.

Rattle reels installed.  They are threaded through a hook on the ceiling, when not in use they hook back to themselves out of the way.

You do high quality work Cfilbert. The fish decals are a nice touch on the cabinets. Also like the rattle reel set up smart idea since your reels are flush mounted to walls and do not swing out over fishing hole.  Thank you for the update and photos. Patiently waiting to see photos of shanty on the ice and your smiling face holding first fish caught in shanty.

Well I just got the wheelhouse weighed.  The total weight for this bad boy is 3960 pounds.  I was a little surprised but after looking at Ice Castle's "Bobbers Down" (Which is the closest style to what I have built)  Weighed in at 3800 pounds.  Overall I think I will be ok pulling on the Ice.

Sorry for the pictures maybe this weekend I will upload all of the pictures to another picture sharing site and fix them.

thats done.  Now to go back and change all my pics over to imgur.

The previous post is the tarps i had made for the wheel wells.  last year a buddy had one out on the lake and banked the wells.  Finished product for him was he had built in chalk blocks and needed to be tugged out of the frozen ruts when hooked up to the house.
