I'm Done for a While
« on: Jan 20, 2017, 10:12 AM »
I went out yesterday afternoon, spud, ice picks, and Striker Suit. The little lake I fish has had good ice all winter so far. 6-8" of good hard ice. I spudded my way out and the ice was getting mushy on top and it was starting to honeycomb all the way thru. It didn't take much effort to punch a hole. Rain last night and more warm on the way. Close to 60° for Sat and Sunday. Time to put the golf clubs back in the truck.

Think I might go bowling
If it passes the ruler test, put it in the ice chest. Hook it and cook it.

Give it a few days to a week, we got some colder nights coming, if it stays cloudy through the warm up we should have a decent base to get some ice going again

I fished on 8 " of clear ice yesterday still hard enough to skate on . 1  long fight and a line break  bummer. The rain we got was at 34 degrees.I'm going to check it out tomorrow. Might be my last outing for a while :(
I'd rather be fishing than sleeping

I toughed it out through the extended January thaw and stayed safe. I made a little over twelve gallons of beer to help rebuild my basement stash. I'll throw together another 20 - 30 gallons before spring but for now ...
time to refocus on fish dinners through the ice!
