Although I don't think the derby is tomorrow, we had 6 inches there yesterday off the marina. Plank is setup on site.

Thanks for the info! Was thinking of hitting oxbow anyway - this will make the potential flaglessness a bit more fun

I'll be there in about 6 hours!

Anyone who was there today willing to post an ice report? I was planning on going there tomorrow but the weather today has me a little freaked out.
Thanks, and hope folks did well today!

Its funny, I don't really know why I like going there… I catch almost nothing and never see anyone else faring any better.
I gotta wonder, is it just cuz "the cool kids are going it?"
One of these days I'm gonna get to cash in some of my skunk points and its gonna be awesome.

But bad as it is, I still do better there than at Bartons.   :%$#!:

Yes, Barton's is the pits. I have only fished the oxbow once. I did the afternoon shift, and a guy whose holes I used had just got a tiger musky. I fished for about two hours and got a good-sized slime dart and jigged two or three pumpkin seeds. Action by most reports seems to be slow, but there is always the chance of a monster, which is what I guess keeps guys going back

Just have to keep at it, I usually icefish the oxbow a dozen or so times a season as I live close by.  And I always get a few nice pike, they are in there in all shapes and sizes, its all about just getting a day where the bite is on... which seem to be few so far this season for alot of people there.

Anyone know if anything good was iced at the derby this weekend?

I can't speak for yesterday, but I managed to get out for a late morning/early afternoon shift today.  One flag, a decent sized Pickerel (maybe 16-18"?)  I also missed my only chance at a jig fish early on...  went to set the hook and the drag slipped soo badly. I forgot to reset my drag after greasing the reel last night... live and learn.

Looked like a slow day for everyone out there today.  ...Ox-Slow

I saw one decent (30"+) pike landed here on Saturday around 2:30

I saw a very good bowfin (~26") caught last weekend

Alas I have caught nothing there of such magnitude, but have seen enough big ones caught to keep me interested

I think it is basically a spot for a shot at a trophy
