What fish finder to get ??
« on: Jan 17, 2017, 11:11 PM »
Might get into the electronic game....it's not me...but just an old school guy. Usually just poke and hope...fish blind. Still have a flip phone..lol. So what's an easy fish finder for an old guy to use ? Thanks

If you want an easy finder/ flasher that gets the job done without all the bells and whistles, I would suggest the Vexilar fl-8. Turn on the power knob and go. About as simple as it gets!

But if you don't want to watch a flasher I would lean toward a lowrance elite 4 ,I have older one called x67c,it has sonar mode and flasher mode,I personally don't use or like watching a flasher, and also the lowrance can be mounted in a kayak or canoe ,watch a couple YouTube videos on both ,it will help you alot

The simplest and easiest fish finder that I've found is the Showdown.  It's SUPER simple to understand, top is the top of the water, the bottom is the bottom of the water column, and any line in the middle is either your jig or a fish.  Beyond that it has 1/2 inch target separation and decent price.  I have mine for going on five years and absolutely love it, wouldn't part with it, and would definitely buy it again.

I'll +1 on the Showdown.  Have the Troller 2.0, works great. Easy to understand for sure, zoom feature is sweet. Mine has the big batt and case but can be separated for quick hole hopping.

Marcum vx1.  Does everything the vex fl 8 does, only better and also has the zoom feature.  Oh and get this, it's cheaper too

No matter which one you get it will be the only one you need,do you want to look at lights and lines or sonar?do you want zoom and gps or neither,it goes on and on my friend, zoom and gps will be in your future so do yourself a favor and spend so money once instead of yr after yr,like I said a few posts ago I have x67c and on my phone navionics, only reason I don't upgrade is because my lowrance battery life is the best I ever seen
