Nonresident ATV permit

Coming to Montana to go ice fishing this week and wanted to know more about what I need on my ATV as far as permits so I can use it legally on the lake. I read the regulations but wasn't clear about the 30 day rule.

If you're not driving it on a public road it shouldn't matter. They might get you while driving on to the lake but I doubt they even look into it.
