Upper Woods WARNING!

Fished Upper Woods this morning and the road in is a SHEET OF ICE!!!!!  Last 1/4 mile is very sketchy. We were able to pick our way down by keeping one tire on small slivers of bare gravel, but it was not fun. The entire parking area and the area down by the launch is one big sheet of ice.

 I don't know if they got any snow up there today, but if so I would not chance it. You will not be able to see where the ice is under the snow and pick your way down and back up and out of there like we did today!

I was surprised how much ice and snow was still up there in the woods. Like a different world up there!

How was the fishing?

Fishing was fantastic! Took a Rookie up there and he caught his first and biggest(different fish) trout thru the ice. Only got 2 big ones, most were 9-10" but the action was non-stop! We iced 31 trout between us- only kept 5 of the biggest and the rest went back. Probably the best day on the ice ever!    We got there just before daybreak and were done by 10am.

I don't have tire chains, so I'm not going back anytime soon.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT OTHER FISH ARE IN THERE BESIDES TROUT ?

There are Rainbow, Brook and Brown trout. Along with Yellow perch, bluegills, sunfish and a somewhat population of Bass.

Wow- there’s a “blast from the past!” 🤪. Hard to believe that was 6 years ago!

Haven’t been up there this year yet. Might try it in a couple weeks when we get a good cold spell. If I do, I’ll give a report.

Thanks man!!! - Yeah, I dusted this one off after 6 years lol. It's 53 miles from my driveway so I thought I would revisit it after 20+ years.
